Cami Thompson is a professional vocalist with nearly 50 years of performance experience across the Western US and internationally, and nearly 45 years of teaching and coaching singers and actors. Her career spans jazz, musical theater, opera, rock, R&B, soul, and recording work. She has performed at hundreds of jazz festivals, held lead roles in over 60 musicals, and worked as a vocal/music director for local theaters in Reno and San Francisco for 18 years. She has taught hundreds of private students and clinic participants throughout the Western US and Europe. A classically trained vocalist and musician, she studied at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) and completed voice training at Colorado College under Dr. Ted Puffer, Nevada Opera Company director. She was the youngest singer in the Nevada Opera Chorus. Her teaching philosophy focuses on four core mechanics: breath support, connection, resonance, and articulation. Areas of instruction include breath work, vocal health, speech-level technique, performance anxiety, microphone techniques, jazz improvisation, sight-reading, piano, and songwriting. Lessons take place in her private home studio in SW Reno.
