Bruce Southard

Dr. Bruce Southard is a Professor and Director of Choral Studies at San Joaquin Delta College in Stockton, California, where he teaches voice courses including Voice for Musical Theatre and directs the college choral programs. With more than twenty years of experience working with choirs of all ages across California, Kentucky, Montana, North Dakota, and Minnesota, Dr. Southard has established himself as a prominent choral director and voice educator in the region. He specializes in Estill voice training and has trained numerous students who have gone on to participate in Delta Colleges vocal ensembles and jazz programs. His students have described him as an outstanding instructor who makes learning engaging and accessible. Dr. Southard served as Artistic Director of the Stockton Chorale for 10 years, leading the ensemble through numerous successful seasons before his resignation in December 2024 to accept another Artistic Director position in the Bay Area. His extensive experience with choirs of all levels and his dedication to vocal pedagogy have made him a respected figure in the Northern California choral and voice teaching community.
