Brenda Iglesias

Brenda Iglesias is an Assistant Professor of Voice at Binghamton University and a distinguished contralto with extensive international performance experience. She has performed as a soloist with major orchestras including the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and Cincinnati Opera, appearing at prestigious venues such as the Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City, the Estates Theater in Prague, and Cincinnati Music Hall. Her wide-ranging repertoire encompasses principal contralto and mezzo-soprano parts spanning the Baroque through Contemporary periods, performing alongside renowned conductors. Iglesias is recognized as a leading expert on Latin American and Mexican art song, having presented research at international conferences and received grants from Mexico's National Endowment for the Arts (FONCA). She holds a DMA in Voice Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, an MM in Vocal Performance from CCM, and a BMus in Music Education and Voice from Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Hidalgo. Her specializations include vocal pedagogy, technique instruction, and translation (English/Spanish). She is also a LACAS Faculty Affiliate in the Latin American and Caribbean Studies Program. Iglesias brings over 15 years of professional singing and teaching experience to her instruction.
