Dr. V. William (Bill) Reed is an internationally known singing teacher based in South Burlington, Vermont, who has dedicated over 50 years to helping singers reach their full potential as performing artists. Born into a show business family as the son of Vernon Reed of the Buffalo Bills barbershop quartet, Bill earned his Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and his Doctorate in vocal music education from Columbia University. After teaching high school vocal music, he progressed to the County College of Morris in New Jersey and Louisiana State University, where he served as choral conductor, studio voice teacher, and recitalist. Bill then completed his doctorate at Columbia University and established a private voice studio in New York City near Lincoln Center. He began his 25-year tenure on the faculty at Circle in the Square Theatre School, where he founded the musical-theater program. During his years in New York, Bill studied voice with Oren Brown at The Juilliard School. His students have achieved remarkable success, winning Oscar Hammerstein, MAC, Drama Desk, Emmy and Tony awards. Many of Bill's Vermont students are working professionals who have performed leading roles at the New York City Opera, on Broadway and with national tours.
Education & Qualifications
Bachelor of Music from University of Wisconsin-Madison. Doctorate in vocal music education from Columbia University. Studied voice with Oren Brown at The Juilliard School.
