Benjamin Rauch
About
Benjamin Rauch is a countertenor, composer, conductor, and educator on the faculty of The Hartt School, University of Hartford. He performed as a soprano with Chanticleer, the Grammy-winning a cappella ensemble, appearing at prestigious venues including the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. His solo work encompasses classical pieces such as Bernstein's Chichester Psalms and roles in operas by Handel and Purcell. Rauch won consecutive first-place awards in the Long Island Composers' Alliance Young Composers Competition and received Best Arrangement honors from the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella. He holds a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance, Choral Conducting and Composition from The Hartt School. At Hartt, he teaches ear training, directs the Hartt Choir and Chorale, and teaches voice and ear training at Manchester Community College. Rauch is a 200-hour certified yoga instructor for singers and brings an innovative approach to vocal instruction.
