Avery Sommers is an accomplished Broadway performer and vocal instructor with an impressive career spanning multiple decades in professional theater. Her Broadway credits include leading and featured roles in acclaimed productions including Ain't Misbehavin', Show Boat, Chicago, and Platinum. Beyond Broadway, she has performed in national tours of The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas alongside Ann-Margret and Chicago with Broadway legends Chita Rivera and Joel Grey. Avery has also appeared in ten independent films, many shot in South Florida, expanding her versatility across stage and screen. As a passionate educator and director, Avery brings her extensive Broadway experience to her teaching work at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre's Goldner Conservatory of Performing Arts, where she serves as a teaching artist developing the next generation of performers. In addition to her work at the Maltz, she continues to perform at South Florida's leading live music venues, maintaining her active performance career. Aaliyah serves on the Board of Directors for the prestigious Carbonell Awards and the Maltz Jupiter Theatre, and on the Honorary Board of Advisors for The Society for the Preservation of the Great American Songbook, demonstrating her commitment to the arts community.
