About
April Young is a highly trained voice teacher and vocal pedagogue serving the greater Spokane area. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music, Voice Performance from Westmont College in Santa Barbara, California, and a Master in Voice Pedagogy degree from Westminster Choir College in Princeton, New Jersey. April maintains a vibrant private voice studio where she specializes in classical, music theater, and Contemporary Commercial Music techniques and repertoire. She provides healthy and effective vocal technique for most styles of music, offering instruction for beginners through undergraduate level singers, as well as more advanced singers seeking to learn new genres or cross-train for vocal health and stamina. April is on the voice faculty at Holy Names Music Center, Spokanes community music school, and also serves on the faculty at the Oaks Conservatory of the Performing Arts. At Holy Names Music Center, she teaches opera, folk, pop, classical, and musical theatre. April has directed choirs and productions for several churches and schools in the Spokane area, demonstrating her commitment to music education and community engagement. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes vocal health, versatility across genres, and building strong technical foundations that allow singers to explore diverse musical styles with confidence and artistry.
