Anthony Zwerdling

Anthony Zwerdling, D.M.A., is a distinguished baritone and vocal instructor with extensive performance and teaching experience in classical opera, oratorio, and art song. He holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Shenandoah Conservatory, where he wrote his dissertation on the vocal compositions of Samuel Barber. He also earned a Master's degree from Boston University and his undergraduate degree from Northwestern University. Dr. Zwerdling is an accomplished operatic performer who has performed over twenty-five major roles with prestigious opera companies including Washington National Opera, Opera Lafayette, Wolf Trap Opera, Boston Lyric Opera, Lake George Opera, Washington Concert Opera, and Opera Boston. His operatic repertoire includes significant roles such as Papageno in The Magic Flute, Figaro in Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Eisenstein and Falke in Die Fledermaus, and Marcello in La Boheme. In addition to his opera work, he regularly performs in oratorio and concert settings with distinguished ensembles including the Handel and Haydn Society, Washington Bach Consort, Washington Master Chorale, and Baltimore Choral Arts Society. Currently, Dr. Zwerdling serves as an Applied Instructor of Voice at Hood College in Frederick, Maryland, and also teaches voice and musicology at College of Southern Maryland. He brings a wealth of performance experience and sophisticated vocal technique instruction to his students.
