Anthony Michaels-Moore is a Grammy-nominated baritone and voice instructor based in Tesuque, Santa Fe County, New Mexico. Born in 1957 in Grays, Essex, England, he became the first British winner of the Luciano Pavarotti Competition in 1985. With over 30 years of international performing career at major opera houses including the Royal Opera House Covent Garden (15+ years), Metropolitan Opera, and La Scala, Anthony brings unparalleled professional experience to his teaching. He holds a BA in Music from Newcastle Upon Tyne University, an MMus/MA in Opera from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, and a Postgraduate Certificate of Education. Anthony's teaching specialties include vocal technique and healthy vocal production, classical repertoire in multiple languages (English, Spanish, French, German, Italian), opera, oratorio, and musical theatre preparation, diction and stylistic awareness, voice science principles, the Alexander Technique applied to performance, sight-singing and piano skills, and role coaching for auditions and professional performance. He has performed nearly 20 Verdi baritone roles internationally and is fluent in Italian, with proficiency in piano accompaniment and conducting. Anthony is actively involved in contemporary opera development and provides comprehensive instruction for serious vocal students preparing for professional careers.
