Anne Azéma is a distinguished French-born vocalist, scholar, educator, and stage director who serves as a faculty member at the Longy School of Music of Bard College, specializing in Historical Performance and Voice. She has directed The Boston Camerata since 2008 and founded the French ensemble Aziman in 2005. With an internationally renowned career, Azéma is intensely engaged with medieval song repertoire and is recognized for her expertise in early music sources, scholarship, style analysis, and performance practice. Her teaching empowers students with tools to continue working and growing intellectually, musically, and technically. Her career spans performance, scholarship, and production direction across Europe and North America, with 40 recordings as a soloist and 16 new productions created with The Boston Camerata since 2008, including notable works such as The Play of Daniel, Dido & Aeneas, and The Night's Tale. She received the Distinguished Artist Award from the Saint Botolph Foundation (2017), the Officier de l'ordre des Arts et des Lettres from the French Government (2021), and the Thomas Binkley Award from Early Music America (2022).
