About
Angela Brown is an internationally acclaimed soprano known for her 'sheer vocal power, luxurious finesse, and shimmering high pianissimos.' She has performed on prestigious stages across six continents, including Lincoln Center, Kennedy Center, Metropolitan Opera, and Vienna State Opera. Her Metropolitan Opera debut as Aida garnered international attention, with The New York Times declaring 'At last an Aida.' Brown serves as Artistic and Educational Ambassador of Indianapolis Opera and offers expertise in vocal technique, languages, performance development, and entrepreneurship. She conducts master classes nationally at institutions including Stanford University, Oberlin University, and many others. She founded Morning Brown, Inc., a nonprofit promoting multicultural role models in performing arts, and co-hosts the Melanated Moments in Classical Music podcast. She received the 2022 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Coalition for African Americans in the Performing Arts.
Education & Qualifications
Bachelor of Music in Voice from Oakwood University; studied at Indiana University School of Music with Virginia Zeani; honored with the Jacobs School of Music Centennial Award and the Distinguished Alumni Service Award (2015)
