Ángel Vázquez-Ramos
About
Dr. Ángel M. Vázquez-Ramos is a native of Carolina, Puerto Rico and serves as Director of Choral & Vocal Studies and Associate Professor of Music at California State University, Bakersfield. He teaches undergraduate courses in music education, secondary choral methods, and choral conducting while leading the University Singers, Treble Singers, and Chamber Singers. Previously, he taught secondary choral music at Pinellas County Schools in the Tampa Bay Area and served as music director for congregations in Florida and California. His research interests include teacher preparation, rehearsal techniques, adolescent choirs, and ethnic choral music. He has presented nationally and published articles on assessment in music education and teacher preparation in peer-reviewed journals including the Journal of Research in Music Education, the International Journal of Research in Choral Singing, and the Florida Music Director. He serves as Central Region Representative for the California Choral Directors Association Board and is an active member of ACDA, NAfME, and OAKE.

Bachelor of Arts in Music Education from University of Puerto Rico; Master of Music Education and Ph.D. in Music Education from Florida State University, studying under Judy Bowers, Rodney Eichenberger, Kevin Fenton, and André Thomas
