Andrew Skoog
About
Andrew Skoog is a tenor and Professor of Voice at the University of Tennessee's Natalie L. Haslam College of Music, where he also serves as Voice Area Coordinator. He made his New York debut at Carnegie Hall performing Handel's Messiah with the Brooklyn Philharmonic Orchestra under John Rutter. He has performed as a soloist with major orchestras including the Dallas Symphony, Buffalo Philharmonic, and Minnesota Orchestra, with particular acclaim for his interpretations of Carl Orff's Carmina Burana, which he has performed 47 times across his career. A two-time Metropolitan Opera regional finalist, he has performed operatic roles including Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly, Tamino in Die Zauberflöte, and Pong in Turandot. He conducts the University of Tennessee Men's Chorale and serves as faculty advisor for Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. He is a charter member and past-president of the Tennessee NATS chapter and received the 2011 Distinguished Faculty Award in Teaching.
Education & Qualifications
Master of Arts in Vocal Performance from Stephen F. Austin State University (1993), Bachelor of Music Education in Vocal Music Education from Arkansas State University (1989). Alumnus of the Des Moines Metro Opera Apprentice Program.
