Amy Johnson is an acclaimed soprano and holds the J. Ralph Corbett Distinguished Chair of Opera and Professor of Voice at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM). Critics have praised her as one of America's finest singing actresses, known for her believability and versatility. She is perhaps best known for her interpretation of the title role in Puccini's Tosca, which she has performed more than 100 times, and the title role in Richard Strauss' Salome. Her performances of these demanding roles have showcased her dramatic range and vocal prowess. Ms. Johnson has performed leading and title roles alongside major international artists with Vlaamse Opera Antwerp, Glimmerglass Opera, BBC Proms, Spier Festival South Africa, Indianapolis Opera, Portland Opera, Palm Beach Opera, Detroit Opera, Arizona Opera, Kentucky Opera, and Santa Barbara Opera, among many others. She has been honored as a Distinguished Vocal Artist of the American Prize in 2021 in recognition of sustained artistic and pedagogical excellence. In addition to her studio teaching, Ms. Johnson has co-directed CCM's award-winning undergraduate opera curriculum.
