Dr. Amalia (Maya) Osuga is a New York native soprano known for her thrilling coloratura and authentic musical interpretations. She serves as Assistant Professor of Voice at the University of Alabama in Huntsville, where she teaches applied voice, group voice, lyric diction, and opera theater workshop. As a concert soloist and chamber musician, she performs throughout the United States and internationally. Dr. Osuga is the founder of Her Art in Song, a grant-funded project highlighting women composers in art song. Her performance credits include solo engagements with Huntsville Symphony Orchestra in Brahms A German Requiem, Handel Messiah with Orchestra Sul Ponticello, and recitals throughout the US and Great Britain. She received the 2017-2018 University of Oregon Teaching Excellence Award and her research focuses on highlighting the voices of women composers and poets.
