Allyson McHardy
About
Allyson McHardy is an internationally acclaimed Canadian mezzo-soprano with a unique vocal color and commanding stage presence. She has been praised as "a singer of enormous imagination and versatility" and has performed with prestigious organizations including the Paris Opera, Festival d'Aix-en-Provence, Canadian Opera Company, Chicago Symphony, San Francisco Opera, and Music of the Baroque Chicago. She served as a part-time adjunct professor of voice at the University of Ottawa from 2020-23, where she taught classical vocal technique and opera performance. Her repertoire spans from Baroque to contemporary works, with particular acclaim for her interpretations of French mélodie and opera roles. Throughout her distinguished career, she has appeared in major opera houses and concert halls across North America and Europe, earning recognition for her dramatic intensity and vocal artistry. As an educator, Allyson has given masterclasses across Canada including at Vancouver Academy of Music, Wilfrid Laurier University, Atelier Lyrique de l'Opéra de Montréal, Calgary Opera, and Pacific Opera Victoria. She is passionate about helping singers develop their unique artistic voices while building strong technical foundations.
