Alexander Kariotis
About
Alexander Kariotis is a Commercial Voice instructor at the University of Texas at El Paso, where he has taught since 2017. A classically trained operatic tenor, Kariotis earned his Bachelor of Music from Mannes School of Music in New York City on full scholarship and his Master of Music from Northwestern University. He studied under renowned masters including Arrigo Pola (Luciano Pavarotti's former teacher), Gianni Raimondi of La Scala, and Metropolitan Opera coaches. Kariotis brings over 16 years of experience as a vocal instructor at Paper Mill Playhouse, a Tony Award-winning regional theater, where he served as vocal coach and musical director for main stage productions. He has maintained private voice studios in Berlin, Germany; Chicago, Illinois; and Maplewood, New Jersey, with students performing on Broadway, Off-Broadway, regional theaters, and major motion pictures. An accomplished multi-instrumentalist and linguist, Kariotis released his self-titled debut album on SONY/Red, recorded at Abbey Road Studios, and has collaborated with jazz saxophonist David Sanborn and RUN-DMC's Darryl McDaniels. He has performed at Avery Fisher Hall and Berlin Philharmonic and toured in the Broadway production Master Class with Tony Award-winning actress Elizabeth Ashley.
