Abbigail Cote

Dr. Abbigail Cote is the Director of Opera and Assistant Professor of Voice at the University of Iowa School of Music, and serves as Voice Area Co-Head. A native of the California Bay Area, Dr. Cote utilizes her extensive and varied experience in opera production, musical theatre education, and arts administration in her teaching and leadership roles. She earned her Doctorate in Vocal Performance with special emphasis in Vocal Pedagogy from the University of Oregon in 2017. Prior to joining the University of Iowa, Dr. Cote served as Executive Director at Eugene Opera, Leo Lecturer of Opera at the University of Michigan, and Director of Vocal Studies at Eastern Washington University. She also holds a Master of Music in Opera Production from Florida State University. Dr. Cote is a professional vocal pedagogue serving professional singers in various international locations including New York, Los Angeles, Ann Arbor, Phoenix, Okinawa, and Stuttgart. Her career emphasizes making opera accessible to diverse communities through innovative productions.
