Whats's a "Spectrogram" and how to use it

📖 What is it for? The spectrogram shows you the timbre of your voice. It can help you identify twang, breathiness, voice onsets, vibratos and pitch variations.

🤓 How it works. The sound of our singing voice consists of multiple frequencies. Some of these frequencies are louder, some are quieter. The spectrogram is a chart that shows you how loudness of these frequencies changes over time as you sing. Brighter colors represent louder frequencies.

🐒 Example. Spotting particular patterns on the spectrogram can help identify characteristics of your singing voice. For example, you can see how "bright" is your voice looking at the brightness of the frequencies between 2 and 4 kHz. This area contains most of the frequencies responsible for the "twang" in your voice.

🧪 Experiment! Try different singing techniques and see how they reflect on the spectrogram. For example, try to sing with closed and open nose and see the difference.
