This is George Gershwin's "Looking For A Boy." If it's true that love affairs are all arranged in heaven, My guardian angel hasn't been good to me. So I'm looking for a boy about 5 foot 6 or 7 and won't be happy til I'm on his knee. I'll be blue until he comes my way. Hope he'll take the cue when I am saying: I am just a little girl Who's looking for a little boy Who's looking for a girl to love! Tell me please where can he be? The loving he who'll bring to me The harmony I'm dreaming of? It'll be goodbye I know to my tale of woe When he says "Hello!" So I am just a little girl Who's looking for a little boy Who's looking for a girl to love! The song "Looking For A Boy" was in George Gershwin's 1925 musical Tip-Toes. Lyrics by Ira Gershwin Music by George Gershwin.. Tip-Toes is a musical with a book by Guy Bolton and Fred Thompson. It is about a vaudeville act consisting of the female title character (named Tip-Toes), her brother, and her uncle. This uncle tries to pass her off as an aristocrat to snare a millionaire husband. The musical has great songs but was only modestly successful on Broadway in 1925 and in London in 1926. Go figure. Any show with THIS song should have been a bigger hit!
