August 13, 1994 - the "Cat's Cradle" in Chapel Hill, N.C., presented an evening of acoustic music with Richard Thompson. And these two tracks again show the humorous side of Richard. After a short burst into his cacophonous rendition of Elizabeth Cotton's "Freight Train" (accordingly called "FRIGHT Train" for the occasion) it's straight into RT's tribute to Scottish accordion legend Jimmy Shand and the age of shellac records . . . "POLKA!" - who else but Richard Thompson would come up with lovely stuff like that?! Enjoy! p.s. Sadly the audience participation is unheard because this is a soundboard recording. p.p.s. To skip "Fright Train" - "Jimmy Shands" starts at 0:32.
